Dallas Deng
Jun 1 - Jul 31, 2026
I focus on contemporary impressionist painting centered on light, colour, and atmosphere. Inspired by the serene forests, coastlines, and city parks of the Pacific Northwest, I use expressive brushwork, texture, and luminous pigments to translate these natural impressions into poetic moments on canvas. I work both en plein air and in my Vancouver studio, creating each painting with premium oils and a deep focus on movement, harmony, and emotional resonance. Whether painted outdoors or in the studio, every piece reflects my devotion to capturing the poetry of light and place.

Our Story
The Federation of Canadian Artists was founded in 1941 by some of the country's most influential painters, including Group of Seven members Lawren Harris, Arthur Lismer, and A.Y. Jackson, alongside Emily Carr. What began as a national gathering of working artists grew into a lasting voice for the visual arts in Canada.
More than eight decades on, we're a national community of artists with chapters across the country and a permanent home at the Federation Gallery on Granville Island in Vancouver. Each year we present dozens of juried exhibitions and run workshops and education programs, giving artists at every stage a place to show their work, reach collectors, and grow their practice.
Our purpose hasn't changed since the start: to advance the knowledge and appreciation of art across Canada, and to support artists from emerging talents to established professionals. We're proud to be a registered charity, home to one of the first artist-run galleries in the country.
“Pictures should be inspired by nature, but made in the soul of the artist.”
— Emily Carr “
